Talking about Tapping and Disordered Eating

Tanya Lovett, Advanced EFT Practitioner, RN (Mental Health), MSc and Robin Bilazarian, Advanced EFT Practitioner and Master Trainer, LCSW

There are many ways that I believe EFT can help disordered eating. This video talks about a few of those that relate to binge eating or overeating. For example:

  • Tapping in the moment of an urge to binge

  • Tapping in the moment of an urge to go back for a second - or third - portion

  • Tapping every day, at a time away from the urges, in order to gradually challenge the self limiting or damaging beliefs

  • Tapping when something happens that feels hurtful or makes you angry - so the emotional experience isn't translated into a food related response

  • Tapping when you notice self critical thoughts - perhaps when you see yourself in a mirror or experience something negative that isn't related to weight or shape like failing a test or being called in to speak to your boss.

EFT is not only a tool that can be used with a practitioner to release you from underlying trauma or negative beliefs that are keeping the eating disorder going, you can use it yourself in the moment you need to reduce the intensity of an emotion or an urge.

I urge you to try :-)
